As we come to the end of another big year, it’s fair to say ACTA has been keeping the wheels turning, working alongside providers, partners and stakeholders right across the country who continue to show up with energy, expertise and heart.
This year has been about practical collaboration and advocacy to ensure community transport remains visible, valued and sustainable across Australia, supporting older Australians, people with disability, transport-disadvantaged communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
What we’ve delivered this year
- Strengthened state-based engagement, including working groups in Queensland and South Australia
- Continued momentum of the Victorian Community Transport Special Interest Group
- A significant milestone in Victoria, with the appointment — for the first time — of a Minister responsible for community transport
- Completion of the Victorian Mapping Project, improving visibility of the transport ecosystem and how services intersect for disadvantaged groups
- Conclusion of the National Community Transport Pricing Model (NCTPM), strengthening the evidence base to support better policy and pricing discussions
- Ongoing policy submissions and advocacy across aged care, the NDIS and broader transport policy, with equity and transport disadvantage front of mind
- Continued progress on our Employment Project in South Australia, exploring how transport enables workforce participation in regional communities

- Building on the Employment Project in South Australia, including deeper partner engagement and stronger evidence of impact
- Releasing ACTA’s Benchmarking Tool in partnership with the University of South Australia, supporting evidence-based planning and funding decisions through sector comparison and insights. - Pursuing funding to progress work on the social benefits and human capital value of community transport
- Keeping community transport firmly at the table as aged care reforms progress, including the future of CHSP post-2027
- Advancing work on workforce sustainability, including DEX reporting and practical pathways to attract and retain volunteers and staff
- Continuing to support collaboration through state and national forums
