Victorian Mapping Project

Victorian Mapping Project

The Australian Community Transport Association (ACTA) in collaboration with the Victoria Tasmania Community Transport Association (VTCTA) & The Department of Transport Planning and Infrastructure (DOT) are pleased to launch The Victorian Mapping Project.

Community Transport builds capacity in communities where mainstream market options cannot. It keeps people connected, supports positive outcomes for individuals, families, medical & health systems. Each service is unique making our sector unique!

The focus of this project is to better understand the models of Community Transport in Victoria and map the existing eco-system of providers and locations covered. This will create a comprehensive report profiling Victoria.

We will promote the sectors definition of Community Transport, the people we support, and map the expansive available network of locations, transport outcomes and various funding dependencies. Funding and subsidies across services to support access and inclusion for people who are transport disadvantaged are varied across each provider, most providers accessing multiple sources of short-term funding, donations and philanthropic pathways to remain sustainable. Sustainability in a time of reform has never been so important.

This project will provide the platform to be able to work together for stronger organisational and community outcomes through our Australian peak body (ACTA).

The strength of any project relies on the people that hold the knowledge. This is where we need you. We understand that time is precious and also recognise the power of having Victoria’s Community Transport network mapped holds for advocacy.

The best way to be able to make a significant impact for Victoria is to come together, face to face, away from the distraction of service delivery and into a space where we can merge our expertise.

Survey

The Victorian Mapping Project is an important project for ACTA to demonstrate how Community Transport services build capacity in communities. Community Transport is complex. We need your help to complete the survey to assist us to understand the ecosystem of providers, where unmet need exists, to be able to build the picture of the crucial role the sector plays in community, economic development, public health support, social cohesion and creating equity in Victoria.
